A Tru-Close Hinge example with no legs or 2 legs

Question: What is the difference between the hinges with or without legs?

Answer: Most models of the Tru-Close hinge are available with or without legs.  Some can be purchased with just 1 leg or even adjustable legs.  The key difference is a hinge without legs only gets screws into the face of the post and gate frame.  Hinges with legs get screws into the face and the side of the hinge ( between the post and gate frame ).  The legs no only result in a stronger fit they also keep the post, hinge and gate frame square so the gate closes better.  So why have hinges with just one leg or no legs?  The only disadvantage to a hinge with 2 legs is it holds you to  a 3/4″ gap between the hinge post and the gate frame.  A good way to get the best of both worlds is to use a model that has adjustable legs :-)
